COUNSELING PHILOSOPHYI believe change comes from a desire or readiness that lies deep within a person. There is a stirring, a something inside that is beckoning or yearning or seeking. It is not always easy to articulate this, to find the right words for it, to express it to someone else. But in some way the person recognizes that he or she is ready to confront the obstacles or blocks or hindrances that have been standing in the way of greater happiness or fulfillment or satisfaction in their lives. Deeply transformative change does not happen alone. It requires a relationship. The relationship that is needed must be one that holds sacred the sharing and personal revealing that is brought into the session. The person that is chosen for this honor must be able to allow all aspects of the person to unfold, without judgment, respecting all expressions of the self that is emerging. In this regard, the therapist is a witness, a guide, a listener, and is working to help free up the psychic energy that has been blocked or stuck or unavailable. My mission is to help to restore the psychological health and well-being and vital psychic energy to the people who seek my services. |
